July 4, 2017 Castle Rock Fireworks Information

Fireworks show set for Tuesday, July 4

NEWS-4thofJulyFINAL

If fireworks are a traditional part of your July 4 celebration, you’ll want to turn your attention to Santa Fe Quarry Mesa for this year’s fireworks show.

Last year’s show off the mesa was a success, so the Town of Castle Rock is doing it again this year. Starting at sundown (about 9:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, July 4, fireworks will shoot off from the top of the Santa Fe Quarry Mesa, located just south of The Meadows, above Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course.

Because of the elevation of the butte – about 6,700 feet – and because this is a high-flying show, there will not be a designated park for show-goers to attend. Instead, fireworks are expected to be seen from most places in Town, though, visibility may be limited in Crystal Valley Ranch, Plum Creek, Founders, Castlewood Ranch and Sapphire Pointe. Get more information on the views with a slideshow at CRgov.com/Fireworks.

About the fireworks show

The show is expected to start at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, and last about 15 minutes. You’ll know the fireworks are about to begin, because there will be a three-shot salute to start the show. A similar fireworks salute will also end the show.

There is no formal event along with these fireworks. If you’re parking in neighborhoods to see the show, please be courteous of driveways and adhere to any posted neighborhood parking restrictions. Parking along major streets and roadways will be limited.

In the event of rain or severe weather, the fireworks will be postponed to July 5.

Golf course and park information

At Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course, the course will be open normal hours (6 a.m. to dark). However, the Clubhouse Grill will stay open late.

If you choose to take in the fireworks here, please do so from the parking lot of the Clubhouse Grill, or the driving range. Also keep in mind, parking at the course is limited. For safety and maintenance reasons, the golf course asks visitors to please stay in the parking lot or driving range area and off the greens. Rattlesnakes and other wildlife at the course may be a concern. Please note that personal fireworks are not allowed at the golf course.

While Philip S. Miller Park is close in proximity, the natural buttes and valleys may obstruct views from the park. Also, please note the MAC will be closed for the July 4 holiday, though the Castle Rock Zipline Tours will be open until dark.

All Town parks will be open until 11 p.m., but please respect the park and clean up any trash or debris after the show.

Stay tuned for current information

The timing of the show could change, based on weather, and in case of lightning the show may be rescheduled. Stay tuned to the Town’s Facebook page (/CRgov) for updates on July 4.

Personal fireworks

As you celebrate, also please remember, fireworks are only legal in Castle Rock on July 4. As a general rule, fireworks that leave the ground, explode or break off into pieces are not allowed.

Visit CRgov.com/Fireworks for more information.
