The Greater Castle Rock Art Guild is inviting all artists in the front range area to submit work for

the second exhibit at ART ON THE EDGE Gallery & Art Center.


This exhibit showcases any medium of artwork that is literally or figuratively “edgy” or has

edges. We want you to push yourselves a bit.




DATES: Call for Entry Dates: Now until August 14th- all entries must be received by close of business on August 14th, 2013

Artist Notification: August 17th

Drop-Off Date: August 26th: 9-1 & 4-7 PM

Installation Dates: August 26th & 27th

Opening Reception: Friday, August 30th- 4-8 PM

Pick up date: Sunday, September 22nd.

 ELIGIBILITY                  Only Original Creations will be accepted. No Giclée’s, class work,

 CRITERIA:      computer, copyrighted or photographs except those taken by the artist are

eligible. All collage materials must have been created by the artist. Creations

must have been completed within the last three years and not previously

shown along the Front Range within the Douglas County, northern El Paso

County, or Lone Tree areas of Colorado. GCRAG reserves the right to reject

inappropriate subject matter. Artists who have 2-d or 3-d work accepted into this

show may also bring up to 10 pieces of bin work on the day of delivery. (Bin work

is classified as originals or prints of the artist’s own 2-d work or small pieces

(under 5”) of 3-d work. 2-d work must be in transparent wrap. 3-d work must be

able to fit in a small display case.)  No “NFS” work will is allowed in this show.



We subscribe to the standards set forth by the various art societies throughout

the United States. All 2-D and 3-D artwork that is not prohibited by the

ELIGIBILITY Criteria will be accepted.




PRESENTATION: All 2-d works must be delivered framed or otherwise suitably presented and

ready to hang. Framing must be gallery quality standards, i.e., frames must be

suitable to the work and the show and must be undamaged and reinforced, with

hardware and wire in place. No sawtooth hangers. No eye-hooks. Please use

flat d-rings and strong wire - check your painting to be sure it will lie flat against

the wall when hung.  D-rings must be placed no lower than 3” from the top of

the frame. Work must be clean, and white, off-white or light neutral colored

mats. Liners or fillets should be no larger than 1/4” and may be colored.

 Paintings requiring glazing, with a frame size larger than 36” on any side

must be under plexi-glass. Paintings delivered with chipped, cracked,

damaged, dirty or unprofessional presentation will not be accepted. Unframed

canvas, paper or board presentations will be accepted if they comply with all over

specifications above. Fabric and paper artwork may be attached to the wall via

dowels, if the presentation is appropriate to and complements the work.

However, artist should check with Jeannie Trueax if special hanging

arrangements need to be made to make sure there is space.




PRESENTATION: All 3-d works must have  heavy felt pads under the work so that the piece does

not present a risk to surfaces. 3-d artists should be prepared to bring their own

stands that do not wobble or present a hazard to the public. GCRAG has a

number of stands that might be available on a first come first serve basis. Please

check with Jeannie Trueax you wish to make arrangements for one of the

GCRAG stands.


 SIZE: 2-d: Maximum 48 X 48 with frame. 3-d: Sculptures must be steady and take no

more than 2 ft by 2 ft. of floor space if over 3 ft.tall, or 18" in diameter if table top.

Jewelry should be on jewelry stands that can fit into a display case.



E-mail your digital entries to: Include your Full

Name in the subject line of the e-mail. Please check the Tips Section at

the end of this call for the correct way to submit digital entry.  If entries do

not meet the requirements listed in the Tips, they will be disqualified. A



Accepted creations must be identical to the entry/digital shot. No substitutions. All

work displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Works juried into

the show and not delivered for exhibit will prohibit the artist’s entry into GCRAG

sponsored exhibits for the following year.


 LIABILITY: Utmost care will be taken in the handling of artwork. However, neither GCRAG

as an organization or board members personally nor the landlords of 314 Wilcox,

nor their agents will be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork submitted

for this exhibition. Insurance is only provided to GCRAG as caretaker of your

work while the art is in the building. (See Artist Waiver Form)


 SALES: All work must be for sale by the artist. A 20% service charge will be taken out by

GCRAG on sales. Up to a 5% credit card service charge will also be taken out

on all credit card sales. Taxes will be collected and remitted by GCRAG. No work

will be released before the close of the exhibit.

Your emailed, mailed or dropped off Official Entry Form must be

received by the close of business on August 14th.

Send a clear digital image of your creation along with your Full Name and the Entry Title.

Your Full Name must be in the subject line of the e-mail. Size the photo at 96 dpi (screen resolution), maximum

640 pixels x 480 pixels if horizontal or 480 pixels x 640 pixels if vertical or 6” x 4” or 4” x 6” and SAVE it as

a JPEG. Send it to yourself! See how it comes through. Does it fit on the screen of the computer without

having to scroll to be able to see it? If not, re-size and send it to yourself, again.


2 Dimensional works must be of the creation only. No mat, no frame, no fingers holding it up.

Take a straight-on, well-lit shot of the artwork only


3 D - place the object in front of a solid white (or black) background.
