Sentencing for Man Accused of Dragging Douglas County Deputy

CASTLE ROCK, Colorado — A man accused of driving off with a sheriff's deputy hanging off the side of his car and nearly backing into another officer has been sentenced to 108 years in prison.

Reese Slade was sentenced Thursday. He was convicted of first-degree assault on Douglas County sheriff's deputy Jason Jarrett, attempted first-degree assault on Castle Rock police officer Todd Thompson and menacing. He was also convicted of driving under the influence and possession of methamphetamine and Oxycodone. At an earlier hearing, he was determined to be a habitual offender.

Prosecutors say that after Slade was pulled over in 2010, he drove away with Jarrett hanging out of Slade's car and crashed into a fence. Prosecutors say Slade then reversed, nearly striking Thompson and then pinning Jarrett against a trailer.
